On 26 December 2023, he was detained after a search, and on 28 December he was taken into custody in the case of spreading "fakes" about the Russian army due to a certain publication on Telegram. On 19 September, Svetlogorsky city court of Kaliningrad region sentenced Lugovoi to six years of general regime colony.
