He was detained on February 11, 2016, during mass searches and arrests in Crimea. He was arrested on suspicion of participating in the activities of Hizb ut-Tahrir, which is banned as a terrorist organization. In July 2016, he was placed in a special unit of the pre-trial detention center as a “dangerous detainee.” In January 2017, he was additionally charged with preparing for the violent seizure of power. On November 12, 2019, he was sentenced to 12 years in a high-security penal colony. In January 2020, it became known that Siruk had been placed in a special unit at Pre-trial Detention Center No. 3 in the Rostov region.
